Säpp Organic Birch Water: New York’s Top 7 Healthy Brunch Spots

If you’re feeling like swapping your Bloody Mary and stacks of French toast for buckwheat pancakes and birch water, New York is home to some great healthy havens to satisfy your late breakfast cravings. 1. Chalk Point Kitchen – 527 Broome St, between Thompson St and Sullivan St, NY, NY 10013

Non-alcoholic cocktails like kale apple mary or pineapple pomegranate tonic are the perfect match for the chef’s delicious organic egg plates and fresh salad bowls. Our go-to brunch order is a side of grilled watermelon, a carrot blood orange cocktail and quinoa bowl with organic upstate kale, avocado, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pistachio, lemon and warm goat cheese. Delicious.

2. The Butcher's Daughter – 19 Kenmare St, bet Bowery and Elizabeth St, NY, NY 10012

This intimate and light-filled cafe is an absolute gem for healthy brunch dates. With extensive vegan and gluten-free options, its daily-changing menu is strictly non-dairy and vegetarian. Our favorite dishes include spicy kale Caesar salad, smashed avocado toast and coconut yogurt parfait, washed down with cleansing juices or a chilled glass of Säpp birch water. New York’s health conscious will be hard pressed to find a more perfect place for mindful eating — particularly in the summer, with Butcher’s Daughter’s outdoor brunching area. 

3. Jack's Wife Freda – 224 Lafayette St, bet Kenmare St and Cleveland Pl, NY, NY 10012; and 50 Carmine St, bet Bedford St and Bleecker St, 10014

Jack’s Wife Freda is a firm-favorite with the team at Säpp birch water. New York-based but Mediterranean at heart, the family-owned bistro fuses American and Mediterranean cuisine to deliver healthier brunch dishes for its guests. A brunch special is the Mediterranean breakfast. With two eggs cooked any style, chopped salad, labneh, avocado and pita bread, it’s a much less indulgent but equally tasty alternative to your standard full breakfast! We also love the green shakshuka, grain bowls, salads and the mashed pea and ricotta sourdough toast with baby kale and radish.  

4. Foragers City Table – 300 W 22nd St, NY, NY 10011

With markets in Brooklyn and Manhattan sourcing the best farm and artisan produce and a small vegetable farm upstate growing goods exclusively for Foragers Table, this Chelsea restaurant knows a thing or two about serving up really good, clean food. A must-try for any healthy bruncher is the super green egg white omelette, whipped up with farm egg whites, wok greens, asparagus, broccoli and organic tofu. As well as a range of organic house-made juices (we love The Chelsea), you can get an extra health boost with Foragers Table’s selection of toppings such as hemp seeds, ground flaxseeds and chia seeds to sprinkle over egg and yogurt dishes.

5. Cafe Cluny – 284 W 12th St, bet 4th St and 8th Ave, NY, NY 10014

Although Cafe Cluny is one of our favorite places to both wind down after a long day and wake up with a signature combo of coffee and birch water, New York’s West Village hotspot also serves a mean brunch menu. You're spoiled for choice with healthy picks including homemade granola with Old Chatham Farm yogurt, egg-based dishes such as the organic three egg omelette, gluten-free breads and our personal favorite, the organic brown rice bowl with poached egg, local cottage cheese, pickled delicate squash and fine herbs.


6. The Smile – 26 Bond St, bet Bowery and 2nd St, NY, NY 10012

This picturesque subterranean café is the perfect hideaway for cozy weekend brunches. The menu is everything and more that you could want from a team dedicated to healthy, delicious Mediterranean-inspired menus. Our top picks include baked eggs and avocado with crushed tomato sauce, quinoa and summer squash with poached eggs and the ever-so moreish buckwheat waffle with blueberry compote. The in-store bakery also caters for your sweet tooth, with healthy bakes such quinoa muffins or banana buckwheat bread.

7. Little Park – 85 West Broadway, NY, NY 10007

Last but not least for top healthy brunch spots from the team at Säpp birch water — New York’s Little Park. Chef and owner Andrew Carmellini has spent years cultivating partnerships with local farmers, anglers, vintners, ranchers and foragers, and his menu reflects this in offering fresh seasonal ingredients like organic vegetables, free-range poultry, grass-fed meats, line-caught fish and heirloom grains, all sustainably sourced. It would be easy to settle into a weekend ritual of devoring the infamously delectable coconut and spelt pancakes every visit, however there’s so much worth trying such as the organic egg dishes, the heirloom grain porridge with poached hen of the woods eggs and pine nuts or a warm slice of the banana-flax bread. For an ultra health fix, sip on the fresh made kale, spinach, cucumber and green apple juice.
